Jackson Estate has been crafting beautiful wines for over 30 years. Like the iconic gum tree that also graces our label, planted in 1867, our roots run deep.

Famed as a region for some of the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc, Jackson Estate continues to gain a growing recognition for producing outstanding Marlborough Pinot Noirs on a world stage.

Guided by the winemaker and driven by palate, Jackson Estate consistently produces wines of elegance, character, length and finesse.

Low cropping levels, gentle handling and minimal winemaking intervention ensures our wines maintain varietal integrity. With total control of our 76h estate grown fruit, we continue to achieve incremental improvements year on year, in a sustainable and environmentally responsible way.

Jackson Estate - The Brand

In 1855 Adam Jackson bought his first blocks of land in the heart of the Marlborough region, along with what was to become known as Jacksons road. The infamous gum tree known as the ‘Grey ghost’ was planted shortly after in 1867 on the land now known as our Homestead vineyard.

Fast forward to 1988 and fifth generation Jackson, John Stichbury and his wife Jo planted the first vines on the homestead block, Their first vintage was produced in 1991 and Jackson Estate wines were born. We proceeded to go from strength to strength, taking out the coveted Sauvignon Blanc trophy at the London International wine competition in 1993.

In 2013 John and Jay Benton bought Jackson Estate with the intention of maintaining the fantastic boutique wine reputation around the world. In 2016 the Benton’s started building the pinot specific winery and cellar door which opened in 2017. The idea behind it is to keep control of the quality and focussing on hand crafted pinot noir to continue.

When Brian Massey (art director of the Hobbit trilogy) was tasked with creating a concept for the building, he brought the X factor with ‘collision architecture’. Based on the original 1850’s settlers huts with the juxtaposition of the burgundy coloured winery jutting out from the centre - this created a contemporary and stylish tasting room.

We now have a 250 tonne winery and a unique cellar door that combines the old and the new – gorgeous rolling hills and a stunning outdoor area for entertaining and soaking up the Marlborough landscape amongst our 30 year old vines.
