2018 Botrytis Riesling (Case of 12)

Ripe notes of fresh apricot combine with luscious characters of marmalade, raisin and sweet honeycomb. The palate is perfectly balanced with the same opulent characters showing, leading into a wonderful depth and concentration with a refreshing clean acidity.
Pungent, toasty aromas of dried raisin, apricot & beeswax & dried florals on the nose denote a dense expression of this fully botrytised style of wine. Deftly handled by the winemaker to bring all that is great about Riesling and its hallmark of acidity to the fore. A lovely, clean, expressive example.

In this video, you’ll learn about:
Why Jackson Estate only produces Botrytis Riesling in exceptional years
How natural botrytis development shapes concentration and flavour
The balance between richness, purity, and Riesling’s natural acidity
What defines this wine’s texture, weight, and ageing potential
This wine is made in a traditional botrytised style, using fruit from Jackson Estate’s oldest Riesling vines at the Homestead vineyard. Botrytis is allowed to develop naturally, without intervention, and fruit is only harvested once it has fully concentrated and dried in the vineyard.
The result is a wine of intense flavour and weight, handled carefully to retain freshness and clarity alongside its natural sweetness.
This is a richly concentrated dessert wine best enjoyed slowly. Its balance of sweetness and acidity makes it well suited to pairing with desserts. An insider tip from Matt, it pairs beautifully with a piece of ginger cake and a slice of blue cheese on top.
A wine made for special moments, and one that rewards careful appreciation.
