Lifted notes of white florals, fresh melon and subtle red fruits delight the nose. These are followed by a perfectly textured and layered pallet showing flavours of white and red currents, pink grapefruit, and just a touch of strawberry pushing through to a fine finish with crisp, fresh acidity.

The label features the award-winning image of professional ballerina Alayna Ng, designed and photographed by the 2016 NZ commercial photographer of the year, Amber Griffin.

A strong synergy between wine and visual art was formed through their creative collaboration, resulting in the striking image that graces the label of this Pinot Rosé.

Winemaker’s Tasting Notes

Watch the video below as our head winemaker Matt talks us through a tasting of Alayna Pinot Rosé.

In this video, you’ll learn about:

  • Why this wine is named after Alayna Ng, former principal dancer of the Royal New Zealand Ballet

  • Why Pinot Noir from the Southern Valleys’ clay soils was chosen for this Rosé

  • The stylistic intent behind making a Rosé that sits firmly on the lighter, more elegant spectrum

  • How fruit ripeness and alcohol level contribute to perceived softness and balance despite a dry finish

  • The role of acidity in keeping the wine fresh, bright, and summer-ready

  • Why this Rosé is designed to be easy-drinking while still carrying depth and texture

What Shapes the Style

Alayna Pinot Rosé is made entirely from Pinot Noir sourced from Southern Valleys vineyards with clay-based soils. These sites contribute to the wine’s texture and depth while retaining freshness and balance. The wine is made in a dry style with low residual sugar, supported by bright acidity and a clean, crisp finish. Alcohol levels are slightly higher, contributing to a sense of fruit weight without sweetness.

Enjoyment & Occasion

This Pinot Rosé is suited to easy, relaxed drinking, particularly in warmer conditions. Its dry profile, freshness, and balance make it an approachable and refreshing option while still offering texture and detail.
