Matt has been guiding the wine making at Jackson Estate for twenty years. Passionate about expressing the true nature of our vineyards and the wider Marlborough region by creating interesting, thought provoking and delicious wines. Most recently, his 2015 Vintage Widow was awarded the best Pinot Noir in the world at IWSC 2019.
Completing a B.Hort Business and B.Hort Tech at Massey University, then on to Lincoln University, completing a Post Grad Dip Viticulture and Oenology. From there he gained a wealth of experience working in vineyards and wineries in South Canterbury, Waipara, USA, Marlborough, Germany, Nelson and back to Marlborough where he soon joined the Jackson Estate team.
Together under Benton wine group Matt works simultaneously with a small, hands-on team to run both the Jackson Estate and Pask wineries.
Matt's journey in the world of winemaking has been nothing short of remarkable. His expertise and dedication shine through in every bottle produced at Jackson Estate. With a strong educational background from Massey University and Lincoln University, Matt honed his skills and knowledge with hands-on experience in vineyards and wineries across the world.
