September 2010 - Jackson Estate Cause for Celebration
Family owned and run Marlborough winegrower Jackson Estate will celebrate the release of their 2010 Stich Sauvignon Blanc next month, along with two other significant milestones in the estates history.

Firstly, 2010 marks the 20th harvest for the Marlborough Estate, allowing brief but vital reflection on 20 years of winegrowing on the Wairau Plains and along the way building a small internationally acclaimed wine brand. John Stichbury owner and founder comments: “It’s been a hell of a ride! The rapid growth and global acclaim Marlborough has achieved is something we should all be proud of. However, with this rapid growth comes a point of rationalisation, which we are all seeing today - times are challenging, but I have never been more excited about the future. I know what we have in each bottle of Jackson Estate is 100% quality focussed, authentic and cherished by our team here, and our distribution partners world over. Sure there are more complexities associated with running a premium export focussed business then there were 20 years ago, but what hasn’t changed is, in the end it comes back to what’s in the bottle, as this is where everyone’s true equity lies.”

Secondly, to coincide with the release of the 20th vintage Jackson Estate is also poised to announce changes for the future of their New Zealand sales. John Stichbury comments further: “Because of the rationalisation Jackson Estate and Eurowine are parting company. Eurowine have helped us tremendously over the last 3 years rebuild some vital presence, especially on premise (bars, restaurants). While we acknowledge the great work that has been done, in today’s environment we require even greater focus and, will be taking more responsibility for the management and positioning of our wines domestically”. From early September Jackson Estate will be adding three new faces to their extended family. Byron Henry of Grand Cru Wines in Auckland, Jeannine Mccallum in Wellington, and Michelle Mangos in Christchurch will become the sales frontline for Jackson Estate in their respective markets. Jo DeFazio, Jackson Estate’s Sales Marketing Manager comments “We are thrilled to welcome Michelle, Jeannine and Byron to the Jackson Estate team. Each person brings with him/her extensive industry experience and professionalism. I am looking forward to the consistent sales focus and authentic in-market voice for Jackson Estate. We most definitely have a bright future ahead!”
