Sauvignon Blanc 2007 Accolades

Silver Medal - Decanter Magazine - September 2008
Very bright and appley. A gooseberry nose. Herbaceous and lively. A lovely balance and effect. Gooseberry flavours. Very clean, dry and fresh. 2008 World Wine Awards.

www.winecompanion.com.au James Halliday 26th September 2009
Shares all the fruit flavour characteristics with the Grey Ghost, the touch of white peach along with gooseberry very much part of the scenery. Drink sooner than later. 94 points.

South Wales Echo 15th August 2009
"...one of the most reliable New Zealand sauvignons of recent years."

Yorkshire Post (UK) 8th August 2009
A serious notch up in quality from one of the big New Zealand brands, Jackson Estate always has lots of minerally complexity with bright herbaceous fruit.

Hunts Post (UK) 5th August 2009
Delivers splendid gooseberry citrus and tropical flavours lifted by a clean mineral finish.

Cumberland News (UK) Julian Whittle 1st May 2009
But Jackson Estate Sauvignon Blanc...is vastly better value. This is a classic Marlborough sauvignon with crisp acidity and piercing gooseberry.

The Sunday Express (UK) Jamie Goode 22nd March 2009
One of my favourite NZ sauvignon blancs, this has lovely tropical fruit, brilliantly balanced by limey freshness. Its not cheap, but worth every penny.

Saturday Magazine (Daily Express) UK Anthony Worrall Thompson 31st January 2009
Wine of the Week "Jackson Estate’s crisp Sauvignon Blanc will partner seafood and pre-dinner nibbles perfectly."

Edinburgh Evening News Bill Clapperton 24th January 2009
Wine of the Week. Lemon with green lights, this New Zealand wine exudes passionfruit, guava and gooseberry aromas.

The Penguin Good Australia Wine Guide Nick Stock 2009
This estate is one of the best farmed and most savvy of savvy producers, it makes a style deeply linked into their Marlborough terrior – the varietal character is on song. Limes and bright fine tropical edges, really precise, some minerals dance at the edges, fine and long. 92 points.

Sydney Morning Herald Greg Duncan-Powell October 4-5th, 2008
This is a Marlborough sauvignon blanc with a little more going on than most. It's not just more complex, there's restraint and subtlety, which are foreign ideas to most of its ilk. A good aperitif.

The Press (Christchurch) Kent Slocombe 18th September 2008
Made by one of Marlborough's consistently good producers, this wine will find favour with many. It is clean, fresh, quite mouth-filling and has a beautifully crafted balance of the expected tropical notes but also the crisper current and herb elements. Enjoy this - it won't let you down.

The Independent (UK) Anthony Rose 12th July 2008
Among the NZ sauvignons I will be quenching my thirst with this summer will be… for richness of aromatic flavours 2007 Jackson Estate Sauvignon Blanc.

www.hotbottle.co.uk Olly Smith 7th July 2007
Dazzling booze from Jackson Estate's impeccable attention to detail - sourcing from over 20 parcels in 12 vineyard sites from Renwick, Wairau and Omaka sub regions of Marlborough. The aromas almost leave you hoarse with a dose of smokey-tinged pungency and verve. When you slug it down your mouth-hole, it's got sensuous texture with rounded tropical fruit, a tickle of elderflower, gooseberry and kiwi fruit bite, long lasting flavours with mouthwatering complexity. Crisp dry and citrus-tastic. Awesome.

The Sunday Times (UK) Joanna Simon 27th April 2008
Even before the Chancellor slapped another 14p duty on wine in last month’s budget, the average price for a bottle of New Zealand wine was £6.26, far higher than for any other country. Australia came second at £4.40, and the all-wine average was £4.01, which shows that, when you think how much duty and VAT there is before you even start, we’re not exactly lavish in our spending. So, what is it about New Zealand? The superficial answers are zesty, vibrant sauvignon blanc, which is fashionable, and consistency – you know what you’re getting and there’ll be no nasty surprises. In comparison, South Africa and Chile are both making some terrific sauvignons, but you can trip up on the cheaper, drearier versions. Another point, according to Jonathan Butt, head buyer for the Wine Rack chain, is that women are more comfortable buying New Zealand wines than those of any other country. And Majestic’s buyer, Matt Pym, thinks that New Zealand sauvignon has become a sort of honorary European classic, with customers who only buy French wines making an exception for New Zealand sauvignon. Just don’t tell them that in Sancerre. 2007 Jackson Estate Sauvignon Blanc, £9.49-£9.99 Tangy and ripe, with rich elderflower fruit (main supermarkets).

Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine Bob Campbell MW April May 2008
Fresh and tangy; distinctive currant and red capsicum flavours and lovely fruit purity. Elegant and appealingly understated Marlborough sav blanc. Subtle with considerable power. Good food wine with better cellaring potential than most. **** 92 points.

Wine Advocate (USA) Neal Martin Issue #176 April 2008
The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from 12 parcels and is adorned with an herbaceous nose with scents of chalk dust and limestone. Zesty on the palate with a leesy finish, this is a fine Sauvignon Blanc for early consumption. 89 Points.

The Saturday Express (UK) Antony Worrall Thompson 29th March 2008
Jackson Estate 2007 Wine of the Week "Why not try the medal-winning Jackson Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2007. Full of intense, vibrant fruit and with a clean refreshing finish, it is the perfect accompaniment to this week's fish recipe"

Ideal Home (UK) March 2008
A white Sauvignon Blanc will go really well with the white goats cheese starter – try Jackson Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2007. It’s crisp and fresh with a hint of tropical fruit.

Dominion Post Warren Barton 2nd February 2008
A label that regularly delivers a mouthfilling, eminently drinkable and unmistakably Marlborough Sauvignon. This one is assembled from 20 parcels of grapes from a dozen different vineyards. Loaded with oomph and flavour, crisp and crunchy

Yorkshire Post (UK) 12th January 2008
This is consistently one of the best NZ Sauvignons – clean, zesty with layers of minerals behinds gooseberry freshness. It’s good now but will be even better with the first hint of spring.

www.truewines.co.nz David Stewart 27th November 2007
Look - Medium straw. Smell - Floral, very fragrant and attractive, with marmalade and a hint of white roses. Taste - with a silky, delicate texture, a delicious floral front of clover and vanilla, and a firm limey acidity to drive the finish, this is a wine full of subtlety, complexity and generosity all at once: thoroughly feminine, in other words, and enormously appealing. Outstanding.
