Gum Emperor Vineyard

Gum Emperor is our oldest pinot noir vineyard with an average vine age of ten years. The vineyard is planted with five different Burgundian pinot noir clones chosen for their suitability to the site and their potential to produce world class pinot noir. We don't need to irrigate this vineyard as the heavy clay soils covered with 20 centimetres of gravel silt have an excellent water retention capacity. This vineyard consistently provides fruit that shows great depth of flavour, structure and concentration. The warm days and cool nights help the wines achieve great physiological ripeness and aid in the flavour development of tannins. The fruit from this vineyard will help our wines show great structure and balance. See this vineyard with Google Earth.
